Today is the LAST day to order during Sale-a-bration.  Don't forget to get your FREE product with each $50 of product ordered.  I always hate to see this annual event end.

FRIENDLY FRIDAY

This is our last stamp camp card this month.  It is quick and easy and can be used for any occasion.

This card uses the Petal Potpourri Stamp Set and matching Flower Medallion Punch which are sold as a Bundle.  The message comes from the Crazy About You Stamp Set which has many message choices.  It is also part of a Bundle that includes several Thinlet sayings and can be found in the Occasions Catalog. The bling in the center is the Something Borrowed Embellishments on pg 42 of the Occasions Catalog.

Sale-a-bration is winding down.  Don't forget to take advantage of the FREE items and the new Clearance Rack items.

We had a REAL taste of spring finally today.  It was in the 70's.  Of course, it is not to last, but it gives us hope that spring weather is getting closer.
Have a great weekend.

THIS & THAT THURSDAY

Today's product share is the Mini Treat Bag Thinlet Die that is on page 9 of the Occasions Catalog.  This bag is so cute and easy to make.  This is a favor I am working on for a local non-profit group that supports families who have experienced infant loss.  Their symbol is a butterfly.  The bag contains a seed packet of Forget-Me-Nots for the precious loved one that is in heaven.

These are the ones I have finished so far.  Still have more to make and I need to find seeds to fill them.
Click to see a video showing how to make the bags and some fun options you have in making them.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

Today I'm posting another stamp camp card that showcases a cute little fold idea.  This one we turned into an Easter card:

Stampers had a choice of either one of these fronts.  I designed both so that  I could showcase the different words that come in the set.

The cool part of this card is the way it opens.  Just take a hold of the arrow tab and pull on it and the card will open up and fold out.  The insides are slightly different so I could use the different words.

Here are the simple directions:

Cut out the 3rd from the largest square in your Square Framelits Set using your Big Shot.  I placed mine so that the square was an equal distance from the sides and the top.

  • Cut a 3 1/2" square out of Elegant Eggplant Cardstock.
  •  Punch out the large arrow from the What's Up Punch.
  •  Glue the arrow to the center of the square piece, leaving just a sliver space between the arrow and the square.
  • After stamping on your 3" square white piece (not shown here), glue the white piece on top of the purple.

  • Your inside piece should measure 5 x 6.
  • Score at 2" and 4".
  • Stamp your inside images. (You might want to stamp before you fold your scores so that your folds don't get in the way of your stamping)

Glue only the single fold to the inside of your card.

  • Fold your inside piece together and close your card.
  • Cover the whole area that is marked with an "X" with Tombow Glue.
  • Lay your completed purple and white square right down into the square hole and adhere to the white piece.
  • Add your egg image with or without the message to the bottom of the card.  If you are going to add the embossing folder image to the egg, stamp the message first and then emboss.
You will notice on the top picture of the card that the point of the arrow is cut off so that it will be flush with the side of the card and fit into your envelope.

I got the fold idea for this card from a swap I received from Donna Taylor.  I added the arrow pull-out so that the person who receives the card will realize that is how you are to open the card.  You could actually use any punch of the right size in place of the arrow, just so something is sticking out to pull on.
Have fun creating any kind of card with this cool fold.  Come back tomorrow to see the same card with a different front.

FRIENDLY FRIDAY

Back a little while ago I told you I was working on a frame using the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set. This is what I came up with.  Today is the first day of Spring so a season's post is appropriate.

I found this frame on sale at Kohl's a month ago and had this idea for a gift for my secret sister.  I was toying with covering up the printed sentiment at the top and putting something of my own in there, but I think I will leave it as is.  I may add "friendship is a sheltering tree" words from the set on a small banner somewhere on the frame, but I have to play with that yet - not sure.
The second picture is just a close-up of the 4 stamped images.  Sure hope she likes it!  I don't think she looks at my blog - but, even so, she isn't supposed to know who I am so she won't know this is for her.

Have a great weekend.  I am writing this early, but, as of right now, we are supposed to be getting 3-5 inches of snow today.  What a bummer on the first day of Spring.  Just when almost all of our snow has melted here in the woods.  This better be the last.  I am ready for some golf.

WOW WEDNESDAY

I'm a little late, but I'm here.  It's already a busy day and it is only beginning.  Here is the Berry Basket Die post used as a gift card holder with easy directions:

Now for the directions:

Cut one Berry Basket.  Fold in half and score and then crease on score lines that are created when you cut it out.  Put Sticky Strip as shown on one side, flip over and put sticky strip as shown on the inside.  Remove red layer and push together to adhere.  This will make your pocket on the inside to hold the piece you are going to insert.

You can also use Fast Fuse, but I wanted you to be able to see where I put the adhesive, so I used Sticky Strip

Cut out one scalloped piece from the Die.  Score on the lines provided and glue together at end score.

Wrap this around your above piece and center on the basket.  You can attach this with Fast Fuse, Sticky Strip or Tombow.

Lay your gift card on the inside, bring the top down and the bottom up.  Decorate the flap and this will help to keep your inside gift card holder closed.  I used the Pansy Punch and the wing of the bird from the Bird Punch for leaves.  Then a little Dazzling Diamonds for the center.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

I know I told you I would be posting a Berry Basket project today, but then I remembered it was St. Patty's Day so I changed my mind. I can do that because I'm a woman, right?!

I found this cute, easy way to make a shamrock from Glenda Calkin's Pinterest post and here is the card I created using her technique:

To make the shamrock, punch out a green flower using your Pansy Punch.  Here I used Garden Green cardstock.  Then you are going to cut the stem from one of the petals.  I drew the lines on the flower with my White Gel Pen so you could see where to cut.  I would suggest you use a pencil so you can erase any left over pencil lines after cutting, if needed.

To make the glittery background, I punched out a 2 1/2" circle from the Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper and colored the edge by dipping my Aqua Painter into some Garden Green Ink.  You can let it dry on its own or use your Heat Tool, like me, if you are impatient.

Hope you have a Good Luck Day!
I will come back tomorrow with the Berry Basket idea post.

MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY

Just a quick post today of one of the cards we will be making at stamp camp next week.  I used this for my swap at a meeting last week and it won for the best swap.  It's so easy to do with this beautiful Butterfly Basics Stamp Set.

I stamped on very vanilla and used the soon-to-be-retiring In Colors of Baked Brown Sugar and Pistachio Pudding.  I cut out two ovals from the Oval Thinlets and the Big Shot and then punched around the edge of the large oval using the Occasions Paper Piercing Pack.  Not sure if you can see it, but there are Dazzling Diamonds on the fern for a little bling and Rhinestones on the butterfly.

Come back tomorrow when I will be showing you another way to use the Berry Basket Die.

FRIENDLY FRIDAY

Another Berry Basket sample:  I'm LOVIN' this Die!

To make this basket I cut everything on the Die twice and used all the pieces.  The scalloped edge pieces went around the top of the basket and the straight edge pieces I used for a tall handle. The handle pieces have several score marks on them because you can use them around the top of the basket instead of the scalloped edge, but the scores don't really show so I used them.  If the score marks bother you, just cut 2- 8 x 1/2" pieces for your handle.  I made the basket out of cardstock so that it would be sturdy and then cut 4 pieces of matching DSP for the body of the basket.  Glue those pieces onto the basket for color before adding your stapled scalloped edge.

Have a lucky Friday the 13th and a great weekend.  We are off to celebrate the 90th birthday of a favorite aunt.  Guess I better get busy making a special card!  Also need one for my husband who turns 69 on Saturday!

THIS & THAT THURSDAY

Today's card is one we made at our Joyful Heart Stampers' Meeting on Saturday.  It is so elegant.  I'm not sure who created this one - possibly Cindy Fodor.

This is a Single Stamp, Love is Kindness, on pg 32 of the Occasions Catalog.  The background is Typeset DSP on pg 184 of the  Annual Catalog. Stamp your stamp a second time so that you get the newspaper image of the stamp.  Cut it out and pop it up with Dimensionals on top of your flower stems.  The images are stamped on a piece of vanilla cardstock that is cut with the Big Shot and the Top Note Die.

The tulips are colored with Blendabilities.  Stampin' Up has pulled these markers as of now due to quality issues, but if you have some, it is a great way to color your images.  Our great Stamp n' Write Markers would also work and you can use any color you want.  You could also use your Blender Pen dipped in your ink (put a drop or two in the lid of your pad).  The little ribbon is from the FREE SAB Ribbons and Buttons, but, once again, use any ribbon that complements
the tulip flower color you choose.   I LOVE this little stamp!

WOW WEDNESDAY

For our Joyful Heart Stampers' Team Meeting on Saturday I was asked to demo the Berry Basket Bigz Die.  I loved getting a chance to "play" with it.  Here is a picture of the samples that I made, showing some of the diverse uses for the Die.  I LOVE when I am able to use a product in more than one way - More Bang for My Buck!

I have to say I did a lot of casing from Pinterest to get my ideas, but then did my own versions.  thanks to all those who helped me out.  I will be giving more details about some of these baskets in the next few weeks and will give credit where credit is due.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

Here is a simple card using some new products and adding a little tissue flower for effect.

First you will stamp and assemble your card.  Here I used the new Painted Petals Stamp Set found in the Occasions Catalog on pg 19 using Pear Pizzazz and Wisteria Wonder Ink.  This set is SO pretty!  I used the Irresistibly Yours DSP that is a FREE item with your $50 order during Sale-a-bration.  I rubbed over the paper with a sponge, inked with Wisteria Wonder, until I got the coverage I wanted.  The white flowers are glossy and do not pick up the ink color. After the card was finished I made the little flower.  Here is how you do that:

You will need your ink (a few drops in your lid), Filter Paper (pg 193 of regular catalog), Aqua Painter, Small Brad, and 1 3/4" Scallop Punch.  Pick up your ink with the Aqua Painter and color a section of the Filter Paper until you have enough for what you want.  You will probably have to add more ink until you are done.  I dried the paper for a minute with the Heat Gun because I was too impatient to wait for it to dry on its own. I folded the paper so that I had 3 layers and then punched through with my punch.

Now put a brad through your punched scalloped circles, move around a little and "scrunch" with your fingers until you get the look you want.  Add your flower to the card with a few Mini Glue Dots. This took my more simple, but pretty card to the next level.  I should have showed you this last week when this Filter Paper was one of the Weekly Deal Items.  It is still a good deal, even when on regular price.

MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY

Welcome to a new week.  We had such a great Joyful Hearts' Team Meeting on Saturday.  I learned lots of new things, made some great make n' takes, saw some awesome demos, enjoyed a wonderful lunch, and spent time with some great stampin' friends.

It is such a privilege to be part of a Stampin' Up team.  You can also do what I do and have fun creating.  Sale-a-bration is a great time to join the family because of the added incentives now until the end of March.  Click here to view all the details.  After you have seen the great advantages, go ahead and click the "join" button and become part of our awesome team.  Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.  I would LOVE to share this fun experience with you and help you in any way I can.

Today's post is a card that was on display at our meeting, created by Deb Paisie, a very creative and fun stamper.  I just LOVE this card:

This card uses the Chalkboard Paper and the Rose Coral Chalk Ink Pad found on pg 25 of the Occasions Catalog, the Something Lacy Background Stamp on pg.43, and the Bowmaker Punch on pg 13.  The little hearts are from the SAB You Brighten My Day Stamp Set which you can get FREE with your $50 order.

Debbie was part of the Monday Creative Blog Hop a couple of week's ago.  Visit her blog and visit the new Monday post this week when you visit Lisa Tedder.

New stamp camp dates are now posted for March.  We will be making several general and Easter cards.  You will also have a chance to make the cute Easter basket I posted last Thursday as an added fun project if you would like.  Go to the top of this page and click on the website listed to see the dates and times for stamp camp under Events.

FRIENDLY FRIDAY

I just realized I called yesterday's post WOW WEDNESDAY and it was really Thursday.  Sorry.  I guess because I do the draft ahead of time, I got confused.  Not hard to do for me.

Still playing with my Berry Basket Die, especially since we are getting a good size snowstorm here in Pennsylvania.  This is my take on the card that is posted on the Stampin' Up Blog.  I still need to"fill" my basket, but don't have all the supplies yet.

To make the basket, cut just half of the basket piece.  The scalloped strip needs to be cut long enough so that you have 15 scallops included.

  • Make another score line 1/4" below the already scored mark that is on your basket piece after cutting.
  • Cut your scalloped strip, if necessary, so that you have just 15 scallops.
  • Score between the scallops using your Paper Cutter or your Simply Scored to get a more finished look since one score line shows up when cutting.
  • Fold back the two end scallops on each end of your strip.
  • Fold back the bottom of your basket piece.
Here is what these pieces should look like:

Center and attach your scalloped strip onto the basket piece.  Then attach the basket and the strip to your card base.  Here is a side view.

Here is a picture of the Stampin' Up sample, filled with fun spring goodies.

Now spring just needs to get here.  We had 10" of snow and it was in the single digits again last night!  Yowza for March!  The rest of the weekend and next week are to be much warmer.  Looking forward to real spring being here soon.
