THIS & THAT THURSDAY

Today's post is another stamp card using retiring products.

Retiring stamp sets are For the Birds (love this cute little set) and Round Array, which matches with the small scallop punch.  The DSP is Petal Blossoms in the Occasion Catalog and may or may not retire.  DSP usually does, but I love this.  Hoping it will stay.
I used the  Distress Tool to rough up the edges on the white circle.

Demonstrators get to see the new catalog tomorrow.  Wahoo!  Can't wait, even though we can't show it all to you yet.
Today is the last day to add your order to the Hostess Code order for April.  If your order is at least $50, you will be entered into the drawing to receive the hostess benefits for the order.  Hostess Code is 74Z6X42P.  Click on the SHOP NOW icon on the right side panel of the blog to get to my Stampin' Up site to place your order.

To stamp the bird image on this set, you can do one of two things.  I actually cut the messages off of the picture image so that both are separate.  You can also cover the message on the stamp with a piece of tape, ink up your stamp and then remove the tape.  When you stamp, you will not have the message on your card stock.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

Here is a treat I am making for the teachers next week for Teacher Appreciation Week.  This is for a school where I volunteer.  I saw the idea on Pinterest and changed it up a little and figured out the directions for the size I wanted.

The supplies you need are:

  • Daffodil Delight & Strawberry Slush Card Stock (or a similar pinkish color)
  • Rolos and Hershey Kisses
  • Gold Foil Sheet
  • Mini Glue Dots
  • Pop Up Glue Dots (non Stampin' Up)
  • Fast Fuse or Sticky Strip
  • 1" Circle Punch (not shown)

I cut my card stock at 3 1/4" x 2 5/8". You can make this any length you want to suit your project.  If you use a roll of Rolos you will need it to be longer than 2 5/8".

I scored at 1/4" and then every 3/8" until I was at the end of the paper.

Put your Rolos together with a couple of Mini Glue Dots along the edges.  Put your Hershey Kiss on the Rolos with a Pop Up Glue Dot.  You can also use a roll of Rolos, which would be easier, but it was more expensive, which is why I chose the single candies.

Curl your card stock with a bone folder and then add a couple strips of Fast Fuse or Sticky Strip on the card stock to help hold your candies together and make it easier to roll.

Roll up your candies and put a little Tombow Glue on your smallest end score piece to adhere together after rolling.

Adhere your 1" pink circle to the top of the Rolos with several Mini Glue Dots.
Curl your pink and gold strips with a bone folder and put Fast Fuse on the inside.  Wrap around the top of the pencil.  The pink piece measures 3 1/4" x 5/8" and the gold piece is 3 1/4" x 3/8".

Here is a close up of the treat.  I loved how they turned out.  Once I got going they were very easy to put together.  I will be delivering all 20 next week.

MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY

Here is another card we will be making at Stamp Camp this week using some retiring products:

Stampers wil have a choice of making this for anyone or adding an already retired message for Mother's Day.  The retiring products are:

  • Stamp Sets - Kind & Cozy  and  Starburst Sayings
  • Starburst Framelits
  • Painted Petals DSP - not sure if this will retire but it is in the Occasions Catalog so there is a chance that it will.
Markers were used to colors the little flowers and Daffodil Delight Cotton Ribbon was used as an embellishment.

Come back tomorrow to see a cute little favor I am making for teachers.

FRIENDLY FRIDAY

In the next couple of weeks I will try to show you some projects made with retiring products.  Today's card is one we will be making at Stamp Camp next week.

I got this idea from a post on Pinterest by Kerry Timms.  You can see her directions here.  I did change it up a bit by turning and making the back of her card actually the front of my card.  The reason I did that was because there was no where to write a message on her card.  Opening it the opposite way gives you an inside where you can stamp or write.  I popped up the Coastal Cabana embossed piece with Dimensionals only on the left side so that the card would still open.  Since the card is an odd size, I also used the Envelope Punch board to make an envelope using Coastal Cabana Card Stock, following the directions for a card measuring 5" x 5".

Retiring products I used:
  • Window Frame Framelits (I used the largest one to make the card base)
  • Something Borrowed DSP (I am assuming this will retire since it is in the Occasions Catalog).
  • Fancy Fan Embossing Folder
  • Mixed Bunch Stamp Set
  • Punch Blossom
  • Coastal Cabana Card Stock
Non retiring items:
  • Sahara Sand Ink
  • Bermuda Bay Card Stock and Ink
  • Banner in the Mini Treat Bag Thinlet Dies
  • Candy Dots
Don't forget you can still add items to the Hostess Code 74Z6X42P by clicking on the SHOP NOW button on the right panel of the blog to get to my Stampin' Up website.
Also see the stamp camp dates on the Stampin' Up blog.

Have a great weekend!

THIS & THAT THURSDAY

Here is a card using the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set that is on the retiring list.  Thanks to Leah on www.leahscards.wordpress.com

The retiring list is going strong and products are moving. Here is a Stampin' Up video highlighting some of the retiring products and how they can be used.  Enjoy!

WOW WEDNESDAY

Well the Retiring List is out.  As always, I have my disappointments, but there will be something good to take the place of the things I will miss.  Here is a card using two of the retiring products.

The Autumn Accents Bigz Die (leaf) and the Modern Label Punch are both being discontinued.  Bummer for both!

Remember the list gets updated each day around 6 pm MT. The X in the last column means the product is already gone.  There were quite a few issues yesterday with ordering.  I believe the site was WAY overloaded and had to shut down for a while to get back in gear.  Things should be easier for you today.  Thanks for your patience if you had to wait! Click here for updated list.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

First of all, don't forget that today the  Retired List comes out.  Click on the SHOP NOW button on the right panel of the blog to order, using the Hostess Code 74Z6X42P.  Have fun shopping and getting some great deals!  When I am able, I will put the link here to get to the Retiring List.

Today I am going to show you a quick and easy gift card holder.

I am going to use the directions from an older post on my other blog to show you directions so the colors will not be the same as this sample.  Here I used Pistachio Pudding Cardstock and String, Gold Soiree DSP, and the words from the Simply Wonderful Sale-a-bration Stamp Set.

  • First cut a piece of cardstock measuring 4 1/4 x 11.
  • Score at 3, 5 1/2, and 8, with the mountain fold being in the middle.

  • Put a piece of Sticky Strip along the inside edge as shown.
  • Pull off the red layer and adhere the inside section together.

It should look like this.  This is when I added my stamped edges to the inside of the holder, which I will show at the end.

Line the edge of the Word Window Punch up with the right edge of the folded inside section of your cardstock and punch.  Do the same on the left side.

Punch part of your 1/2" Circle Punch in the center of the Word Window punched holes.  This will give you a place to slide your gift card into and the circle punched space lets you pull the gift card out without any trouble.

This is the inside of the holder I made as my post today.

I decorated the front with a punched out piece that was popped up with Dimensionals so that I could slide a piece of string through it and around the holder.  I tied it with a bow to keep it closed.

Have fun making a designing one of your own.

MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY

Today's post is a card I created for our Proverbial Stampers Team.  Each month we have a sketch challenge we can work on and it is entered into a "contest".  The winner gets goodies from our awesome leader Connie Heisey.  This card uses the Gold Soiree DSP from the annual catalog.

Become part of my team and join in the fun of stamping with a great and creative bunch of stampers.

Watch for the Retiring List which will be coming out tomorrow.  Remember that items (other than stamps) are on the list until supplies last.  There will be some items for sale up to 50% off.  I am creating a Hostess Code so that you can order what you want as soon as the list goes live, which will be 2 a.m. EST time Apr 21st.  Remember that there is a minimum of $6.95 S & H and your order will be processed as soon as you place it - no need to wait until the workshop closes.

Anyone who orders a total of $50 before S & H will be entered into a drawing to receive the hostess benefits if the workshop reaches $150.

Hostess Code 74Z6X42P.  Click on Shop Now on the right side panel to get to my Stampin' Up site where you can place your order.

FRIENDLY FRIDAY

I am working on a project so I am a little late with my post.  Here is a box I am making for my sorority banquet favors made with the envelope punch board:

Directions:  Go to elainescreation  here
for video directions.  What I did differently was that my DSP measures 4 x 4 and I started scoring at 1 3/4".  Then follow all the rest of the video directions.

I used retired DSP for this project.

Here is the finished product:
The bag includes things you would need in a sister survival kit.  I found the idea on Pinterest.  I also found the sister tag message on Pinterest.

I typed the info on a mailing label tag, cut down slightly to fit on a 2" x 3 1/2" piece of white cardstock, attached the label to the white piece and then punched one end with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.

I only have 30 more to do.  Guess what I will be doing this weekend!

For those of you who have been waiting patiently for the Butterfly Thinlit Dies, they are ALMOST here!  The west coast dockers' strike affected the delivery of these wonderful Dies.  They are due to arrive at Stampin' Up on Friday.  An update will be given from Stampin' Up when they arrive.  Some of you have been on backorder hold and some have not been able to order, but that will all change very soon.  Stay posted with the final update.

These butterflies are beautiful and it is no wonder everyone wants them.  I love mine.  I am showing 2 cards which I have received in swaps with the middle size butterfly.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

For today's technique, I will tell you how to change the color of your DSP.  We are going to start with the piece of DSP you want from the Back to Black DSP pack, the ink pad color of your choice, and your brayer.  I have chosen two different patterns, just so you can see some options.

Ink the brayer well with the ink color of your choice.  For one paper I chose Daffodil Delight and for the other I chose Melon Mambo.  Just roll it over the DSP so that the white areas are now filled with color.  You only need to go over it once unless you want it really dark.

Here are the two cards made with the papers I colored:

For this card I embossed the top of the white piece with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  I stamped the flower with the Momento Pad and colored the center with the Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker.  Then I added some 2 Way Glue to the center and dumped on some Dazzling Diamonds.  The flower and the message are both popped up with Dimensionals.  The ribbon is Daffodil Delight. The flower is from the Petal Potpourri Stamp Set and I used the matching Flower Medallion Punch.

I left a little bit of white cardstock showing at the bottom of the DSP.

For this card I used the Chevron Embossing Folder on the top.  I stamped the flower onto Melon Mambo Cardstock instead of white.  Then I stamped the center with Daffodil Delight and punched the center out with the 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch.

Once again I used the Petal Potpourri Stamp Set and matching Flower Medallion Punch.

The center of the flower is a pearl that I embossed using the technique I described on WOW WEDNESDAY March 4th.

I did not yet put a message on the card.  I'll wait and see what I need.  I also placed this DSP piece at the bottom of the card.

Have fun experimenting with how you can change the color of your Back to Black DSP.  You could also use sponge Daubers and do more than one color on a sheet.

MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY

Today's card is one that I made for our Interim Pastor who is leaving after 3 1/2 years.  Hard to see him go, but grateful for his time with us.

A couple items I used are retired:  Tulips Embossing Folder and Praying Hands Single Stamp.  I also used the  Petite Petals Stamp Set and matching punch and the leaves from the Bird Punch.  DSP is Something Borrowed in the Occasions Catalog.  Colors are Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder.

FRIENDLY FRIDAY

Just a reminder:

ENDS TODAY!

Click on the Shop Now icon on right side of blog to get connected for ordering.  Use Hostess Code PTXCZEVX.

I will be closing the order at 6 p.m. so get your order in before that.  Thanks for choosing me as your demonstrator.

Here is another Berry Basket Die idea:

Think picnic!  Summer is just around the corner.  Of course, this would be for the woods' elves, but you get the idea.
I made one basket and lined it with DSP on the inside and two sides of the outside.  The top cover is a piece of cardstock measuring 4 1/4 x 3 1/2, stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp and creased in the middle at 2 1/8".  Then I just bent it a little on the crease and popped it in the top.  The handles are pieces cut 5/8" x 8 1/2" and also stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp. They are attached with a gold brad.

Have a great weekend.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

So yes, it is true! Any order applies. The only exclusion is expedited shipping.

  • Consult your wish list - now is a good time to shorten that list!
  • Stock up on consumables
  • In Colors you won't be able to live without after May 31st: Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush
  • Treat yourself - I like that one best :)
  • Gifts
  • Large ticket items will be a little bit more affordable
Retired list will come out Apr 21 so I would suggest getting any of the retiring In-Colors noted above at this time so you don't miss out.  They go quickly!

Click on the Shop Now button on the right side panel of blog to place your order using the Hostess Code PYXCZEVX.

Today's technique is an easy adaptation of the Berry Basket.  Just make two baskets.  Then cut a piece of matching cardstock that measures 6 3/4 x 2 7/8.  Put Tombow Glue on the piece or use Fast Fuse Adhesive and adhere both baskets on top of the cardstock piece.

I used the Bowmaker Punch to make the bows for the side and the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch on the handle.  There are also Doillies folded in half and attached to the sides of the basket.

MISCELLANEOUS MONDAY

HAPPY BELATED EASTER!

HE IS RISEN!   ALLELUIA!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday.  How can we not be overjoyed when we know that the Lord has risen and we have been given grace.

Just a quick post today.  This is another card using the Berry Basket Die.

Just cut a little more than half of the basket, fold up the bottom and attach to your card.  Leave the top open so you can add this little pull out piece for your message.  This is actually a whole card, but you would not have to do that since your message can go right on the pull-out piece.  You could attach a gift card to this pull out piece if you wanted and add your message on the inside of the card.

You do NOT want to miss this:  FREE SHIPPING ON ALL ORDERS TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY.  THAT MEANS APRIL 6 - 10.  I have created a Hostess Code.  Click on Shop Now on the side-bar of the blog and when you place your order add the Code   PYXCZEVX.  I will be closing the order on Friday at 6 p.m. EST.

Don't miss out on your chance to order.  Stock up on basics that you may be running low on and anything else you have been thinking of getting.

I would suggest you order any of the retiring In-Colors you might want, especially paper and ink refills, because when the retired list comes out at the end of April, they usually go quickly!
