TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS - DAY 5

On Day 3 I showed you the tealight projects I made using the Paper Pumpkin supplies.  Since I did not follow the directions as the kit described, I had supplies left over.  These are the cards I created using the left over supplies plus a few other items not found in the Paper Pumpkin kit.

I still have supplies left so I can do some more creating.

TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS - DAY 4

Here is an easy small gift item for anyone.  I made six and will be giving them to friends who I will be having lunch with before Christmas.

The tree DSP is retired and the ornament DSP is from the current Under the Mistletoe pack.

I found the idea on Pinterest, created by Chiaki Haverstick.  However, I changed the dimensions so mine would not be as tall and I could get 4 out of a sheet of cardstock.  I also think her inside direction was incorrect.

To begin, you will need a piece of cardstock cut at 8 1/2 x 2 1/2, scored at 3 3/4" and 4 3/4".

You also need a piece of cardstock for the inside measuring 3 x 2 1/2, scored at 1" and 2" along the long side.

Cut two pieces of DSP for the front and back of the holder and adhere them before you put anything together.  It is much easier that way.  The DSP pieces each measure 3 1/2 x 2 1/4.

Center the small oval framelit in the middle of the scored section of the smaller piece and cut out.

Save your oval so you can stamp your message on it.

Put Tombow Glue on the one end of the scored piece.

Attach to the inside of the large piece lining it up with the scored line.

Now put glue on the other end of the small piece and bring the large piece up so that the small piece is adhered to the large piece.

This is what it should look like on the inside.

I lined up the top ends together and punched a hole using my Crop-o-dile.  Then I placed the hand sanitizer inside.  

Cut a 6" piece of ribbon (I used red retired tinsel string on mine) and push through the hole to keep the top of the holder closed.

These are very easy!  I love easy and cute, don't you?!  Everyone can use hand sanitizer, so this is a quick, cute gift for a favorite friend.  Hope you get a chance to try making one.

TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS - DAY 3

I am hopeful that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and was able to spend time with friends and/or loved ones.  I know that I have many blessings to be thankful for!

Today's project uses the supplies in the November Paper Pumpkin Kit.  The idea came from Anita Roberts who posted her version in the Paper Pumpkin fb page.  I loved her idea and needed something for my bell choir for Christmas so I cased with a few changes.  Anita chose to recut the paper and make a different holder for her tea light.  I just used the cards as they were, but used her idea.  Here are two of my projects.  I needed twelve and there were only 8 card bases in the kit, but I had just enough card bases left from another kit and some of the current DSP to finish up my 12.

Here are a few directions:

First I cut out 12 Vellum circles (I messed up the ones in the kit because I stamped with Momento instead of StazOn), using the Circle Framelit just larger than the 2 3/8" circle.

I stamped that with a message in the Timeless Tidings stamp set using StazOn.

Next, lay the DSP on top of the card and cut through both pieces using the 2 3/8" Circle Framelit.  I centered the circle from the left and right, but laid it a little closer to the bottom than the top.

Pop out your circle pieces and save for another card or project later.

Put a thin line of Tombow around the circle on the card stock and lay your Vellum piece on the card.

Then adhere your DSP piece with Tombow, lining it up so the circles match.

Cut two Scalloped Circle Framelits together to make the scalloped frame.  I also "winkered" them to add a little bling.

Decorate as desired.  I used the fern-like punch outs included in the kit and also punched out some Pear Pizazz leaves using the Sprig Branch Punch.

I stamped two bells from the retired Seasonal Bells set in Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler.  I also added a little Wink of Stella to them.

I adhered a little brace inside the card so that it would not open too far.  The tea light can sit on this piece.  The piece measures 1 x 2 1/2, scored at 1/4" at each end.

I love how these turned out.  Thanks again to Anita for the idea.

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS - DAY 2

I am a little late in posting, but here is today's project.  This is the project that I used for my idea.  This was given to me by Cindy Fodor, my dynamic Stampin' Up upline, at On Stage as a gift.

It was filled with mini M & M's (long gone) and the back pocket had a clear  "Handmade by Lynne Peters" stamp in it.

This is my take and the directions.  I will be giving mine to the first graders I volunteer for.

You want to start with a piece of DSP measuring 2 x 6, which means you can get 12 out of one sheet of DSP.  Punch one end with the Tag Topper Punch.  Then, laying your flat end against the left side of your Simply Scored, score at 1 3/8, 2, 3 7/8, 4 1/2.

Using your 3/4" circle punch, punch a circle in the center of the piece, between the score lines.

Cut a backing for your DSP to be mounted on.  You can cut a plain piece measuring 1 3/4 x 3 1/2 or you can cut a piece measuring 4 3/8 wide x 3 7/8 high and use it as a "pocket" to put a SMALL object into (I'll show how these are attached at the end.

Here is what you do with the larger piece.  With your 4 3/8 side at the top of your Simply Scored, score at 1 1/4, 1 3/8, 3 1/8, 3 1/4 and 1/4" along one of the ends to be the bottom.

Cut away the two end flaps and taper the center section in a little by cutting away a little with your scissors.  Punch a half circle ( 1 1/4" punch) at the top end.  Fold in on the score lines as shown in white and adhere with a little Tombow glue or Fast Fuse.  The picture should help you with this step.

Put Tombow on the back of your DSP piece and adhere to either your flat background piece or to your "pocket".

After completing this project, I thought I could have used the 12" circle punch instead of the 3/4", put just a pencil in the hole and put a Kit Kat or mini Hershey bar in the back pocket.  Just another suggestion of how you could use it.  I will probably stick with the larger circle hole and flat back to save myself some time.

Add a ribbon to the top and a message on the front.  I used the Pretty Label Punch and sponged the edges with a Sponge Dauber dipped in red ink. The ribbon is the retired red tinsel from last year, found on the Clearance Rack.  I also added Red Jewels to the tag.

MONDAY

I know it is a little early, but I am going to begin the TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS posts starting today.  That way, if you see anything you would like to have or make, you will have time to do it before Christmas actually gets here.

I will be posting 3D projects, tags, gifts, etc that you might want to try making yourself.

DAY 1

Today's post is wine glass markers made with stamps and Shrinky Dink Paper.  I LOVE doing these.  They are so much fun.  Even your kids can do them, which would be a fun project for you to work on together as a gift for someone, for them to use themselves, or for them to help you make for guests that you might be having over the holidays.

Here is a set of rings I made as a gift.  I made 4 sets for 4 couples we exchange gifts with.  I just needed something inexpensive, yet nice.  I think this fits the bill!

You can make any image you want that is not too big.  I used a deer, a crab, and a butterfly from retired sets.  I used the puppy from the Bella & Friends set (pg 30 AC), and wine glasses from the Half Full set (pg 22 AC).

Stamp your image on the smooth side of the Shrinky Dink paper using Staz On. Turn over to the rough side and color with colored pencils or alcohol markers.  I used our great Stampin' Blends.

Punch a hole where you want the ring to go through.  Make sure it is large enough.  It will also shrink and you want to make sure it stays the right size.  I used the large punched circle on the Crop-o-dile.  On some of the  finished products, it still shrunk a little too much, but the marker did go onto the skinny part of the ring - it just wouldn't slide onto the larger part. 

You can then place them in the oven to shrink them.  OR, I like to lay them on a heat resistant surface, hold the Shrinky Dink down with a pointy object (like scissors or your pokey tool) and heat them with your heat gun.  It is so fun to watch them curl up and then straighten back out.  Don't panic as it curls!  Keep holding your heat gun on the marker until it gets flat.  As soon as it is flat, I lay a stamping block down on top of it and press to make sure it is completely flattened out.

These then go on an earring ring that you can find in your favorite craft store.

I am gifting mine in our Mini Pizza Boxes (144645 - 8 boxes), decorated with Under the Mistletoe DSP from the AC and those cute little bows from last year that were on the Clearance Rack.

You can make them all a Christmas theme, or, as I did, a set of mix and match.

Hope you will try these out.  They really are fun to make.

WEDNESDAY

This beautiful swap was created by Sheila Miller.  It uses the accented Blooms stamp set.

The color is Rich Razzleberry, and, once again, it looks much prettier in person.  The layer is embossed with the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured emb folder (147906).  A piece of Chicken Wire Elements (147807) is used as an embellishment.  The image is colored with Stampin' Blends and the "hello" is popped up with Dimensionals.  The embossed layer is also covered with the Wink of Stella (141897).

MONDAY

After being away for a long weekend and then going directly to the Stampin' Up On Stage in Orlando, I am way behind.  I think I'm back and home to stay for a long while.  Just a quick post today as I get my bearings and get back in the "being home" groove.

This card was from a swap within our Joyful Heart and Proverbial Stampers groups.  We have the most talented stampers in our group - just sayin'.

The picture does not do this card justice.  It is SO pretty.  It was made by Brooke Outtern.  I believe the background color was sponged on and then a little water splattered on with the Aqua Painter.

It looks like the ink colors are Pumpkin Pie, Granny Apple Green, and Highland Heather, but I can't be certain.  There looks like there is a little Poppy Parade rubbed in a little between the colors and also flicked on the edges.

The leaves are heat embossed with Copper and the Copper Trim is used under the cut out wood stamp.

FUN FOLD FRIDAY

Today I am sharing my On Stage swap that I will be sharing with 40 (maybe a few less) members of our Joyful Heart Stampers Group.  I needed to make 40 cards, however.  Not sure why I always choose something that is not going to be a snap, but I really liked the card after I designed it so I said, "What the heck".  

Here is my take on a movable pocket slider card (not sure if there is a REAL name for this).

You pull the little slider up and the panel folds and pops up to reveal the message.

This card took quite a while, but it was fun.  Here are directions.  Hope they will be helpful.

Start with a piece of card stock 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2

I closed the card and put it into the Woodland Embossing Folder that way so that my tree would be going the right direction (if I had just put in one end, it would have been upside down.)  I thought I took a pic of that, but I didn't. Sorry.

Then I started to cut the "window"

Open you cardstock and place the open end at the top of your cutter.  Lay the right side of the paper on the 1" mark.  Come down 1 1/4".  Cut from 1 1/4" down to 4 1/2"

Turn your paper and lay the open short side along the right side of your cutter, again at 1".  Cut from the line down to 3 1/4".

Turn your paper again.  Lay the right side of your paper again at the 1" mark.  Cut down from the end of your last cut, down to 9 3'/4".  

You should now have your "window".

Using your Scoring Pad, score a line at the top of the window to connect the two cut lines.  Then score another line 1 1/4" down from there, and another score 1/4" from the bottom of the flap.

Take a piece of white c.s. cut at 2 3/4 x 2 1/2 and adhere it to the inside of the card that has not been cut.  The 2 3/4" side should be on the width of the card.  Place it in the center of the card so that there is the same amount of space on each side and move it up 1 7/8" from the middle fold of the card.

Now you are ready to work with your Crushed Curry piece that is the "pull up" part of the card.  This piece is 4 3/4" x 2 5/8".  Using the thinlit from the Animal Friends that has the holes in it, cut out the thinlit near the top of the Crushed Curry piece, leaving about 1/2" at the top.

Round your top corners using the Detailed Trio Punch and punch a hole in the top center using the same punch.

Now you are ready to adhere this piece to the inside of the card.  Put a little Tombow Glue on the bottom 1/4" part of your cut flap.  You are putting glue on the inside.

Now lay your crushed curry piece, right side against the inside of the card, onto the flap, centering it over the flap and aligning the top of the crushed curry piece with the top of the card.  Rub well where you put the adhesive.  Make a small pencil mark in the center of the hole at the top of the piece.

Now lift the curry piece enough that you can get your 1/2" circle punch under it. Center the punch around the pencil dot and punch out half of the circle.

Now you are ready to adhere the card together.  Put Fast Fuse or Tombow Glue along three edges of the card.  DO NOT put glue on the open end.  The blue marks in the picture will show you where the adhesive goes.  Keep the adhesive close to the fold rather than close to the white piece so that your slider will work better.  The side adhesive can go close to the edges.

Now you are ready to embellish the front.  Cover the front flap with a piece of DSP.  Here I used Animal Expedition DSP.

This next step you could have done beforehand.  You want to make a stencil by cutting a piece of Vellum (3 x 3) and then cutting out the thinlit piece two times in the center of the Vellum.

Use this Vellum stencil to make "giraffe skin" marks on your circle.  I just used a sponge, dipped it onto my ink pad and then rubbed it onto the stencil.  You don't need to worry about covering the middle of the circle.  You might have to move the stencil down just a little after your first inking to fill in a tiny space that is not covered by the stencil the first time.

This is just showing you what I mean.  I did not do this when it was on top of the card.

Now to your giraffes.  First stamp the tall giraffe on your circle, making sure it is over far enough to the left that your other giraffe head will eventually fit in.  You are eventually going to have a popped up giraffe where the tall one is, but stamping one here helps you with placement for the next giraffe and the next step.

Now take your Silicone Sheet and we will make a reverse image.  Stamp your giraffe onto the bottom edge of your Silicone sheet.  

Pick up your sheet and carefully, flip it over, ink side down, and place it on your white circle where you want it to be.  Your Silicone Sheet is slightly transparent so you can see through it.  When you get it in position, just press or tap lightly to move the ink to the paper.  Lift off carefully.  Pretty cool, huh?  LOVE this technique for reverse stamping!

One more thing before assembling.  Take your cut out giraffe you have stamped and cut out earlier and lay it down on top of the one you have stamped in the circle.  Holding it in position, cut off the little extra at the bottom of the giraffe so that it aligns with the round edge of the circle where it will be placed.  I also stamped the leaves and colored in with Call Me Clover Ink and a Blender Pen.

Now you are ready to put the final touches on.  Adhere your Crushed Curry circle to the flap with Dimensionals (only at the bottom of the circle so your flap will open). Adhere your white circle to the crushed curry one, and your popped up giraffe on top of the stamped one.

Stamp a message onto a piece of Crushed Curry and punch out with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.  Add a sequin for bling.  Slide your slider up and stamp a message on the inside.  

I also went over all my embellished tree trunks with Wink of Stella to give it a little more pizazz.

Add 4" of Braided Linen Thread through the hole and voila'.  You have a card ready to open and send.

After doing this post I think I need to get into videos.  It would have been easier.  Sure hope you can figure this out from the directions because the card is so cute and can be used with many different stamp sets.
