 MAKE IT MONDAY

Another card which can be used for many occasions, however sympathy and butterflies always seem to go together to me.

The base of the card is Calypso Coral.

The DSP is Pansy Petals DSP on page 132 of the Annual Catalog.  (Dimensions at end of post)

The butterfly is in black and cut with one of the Brilliant Wings Dies (page 159 in Annual Catalog and part of the Bundle on the same page.)

The  long strip of cardstock in the middle of the card is Pale Papaya.

Message is an old retired one and is stamped on the smallest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies using Pale Papaya cardstock and Momento Ink.

Embellishments on the butterfly are from the Playing With Pattern Resin Dots (page 143).  I used the Purple Posy ones.

The butterfly is popped up with small cut pieces of Dimensionals. I alo coverd the buttefly with Wink of Stella, but it is hard to see here.

Dimensions:
Card Base: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Long Pale Papaya Strip is 5 1/2 x 2 1/2
Long DSP piece is 5 1/2 x 2 1/4
Square Pale Papaya piece is 4 x 3 1/2
Layered DSP piece is 3 3/4 x 3 1/4

 FUN FOLD FRIDAY

This is an easy card fold with many possibilities.

The cardstock on the card is Night of Navy and Basic White.

The stamp set is Beauty of Friendship (pg 11).  This is also part of a Bundle found on the same page of the Annual Catalog although I did not use any Dies on this card. the Bundle shown on pg 158 is missing one of the stamped images in the picture.

The DSP is Beauty of the Earth (pg 130)

Cut your base card at 6 1/4 x 5 1/2 and score on one side at 2 1/2

The other Navy piece is 3 x 3 3/4.  With your shorter edge at the top of your scoring tool, score at 1/4".

The large white piece is 5 1/4 x 4

The small white piece is 3 1/2 x 2 5/8.

Stamp the inside message of your choice (mine is retired) on your large white layer.

Put Tombow Glue on the inside of the 1/4" flap and tuck it under the right edge of your large white layer. Then adhere your large white area to the inside of your card.

Stamp the tree on the small white piece.  I used Crumb Cake for the tree and used Merry Merlot stamped off for the solid top of the tree background and then Merry Merlot as usual for the open weave part of the tree top.

To make the sky, I used my Blending Brush (pg 129) with Balmy Blue Ink.

To make the grass around the base of the tree I dipped my Blending Pen into a little Pear Pizzazz Ink and colored until I got the effect I wanted.

To make the message I used the smallest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies and a retired message.  This is popped up with Dimensionals just on the left so that it can fold over and hold the stamped image piece down. There is a small rectangle die and a long narrow rectangle die in the set which you can use if your message fits one of them.

I used some retired Crumb Cake cord, but you could use Linen Thread and make a double bow to be a little thicker.

 WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY

A little old and a little new

Today's card uses a Sale-a-bration product, retired ribbon and products for your Embossing Machine.

I will show the inside and outside since it is a little different.

This card base is Basic White and is cut at 4 1/4 x 9 and scored at 3 1/2 to make the inside flap short.

 The Beautifully Penned DSP (a sale-a-bration paper) is cut at 5 1/4 x 4.

The DSP is attached to the front of the card on top of the short end of the Basic White so that it hangs over when you open the card.

Layer a Die from Stitched So Sweetly Dies on top of the DSP.

Cut a piece of Basic White at 3 3/4 x 2 1/2 and emboss with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder found on pg 55 of the Mini Catalog.

Tie a piece of Black & White 1/4" gingham Ribbon (pg 74 of Mini) around the embossed piece and then adhere the piece to the card with Dimensionals. My ribbon is retired, but you can use the ribbon as suggested above.  It is almost identical.

Stamp a message onto the smallest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangle dies.  It seems like I have used this a lot, but I was trying to catch up with sympathy cards.  This message is retired.

The small rectangle is attached with adhesive at the top and Dimensionals at the bottom.

Several Matt Decorative Dots were added as embellishments (pg 31 of Mini)

You can use any leaf or coordinating stamp to decorate the inside corner.

 MAKE IT MONDAY

Today's card uses ALMOST  everything current.  You can do so much with this Bundle, found on page 158 of the Annual Catalog. Matching DSP is on page 130.

The base of the card is Mossy Meadow. The next layer is Beauty of the Earth DSP, cut at 4 x 5 1/4.

Wrap white twine around the DSP, tie a bow and then adhere the DSP to the card base.

The tree is cut from the Beautiful Trees Dies in Early Espresso.  The birds are cut with the same Dies with Crushed Curry.  Each bird has a small pearl for an eye and are attached to the card with Dimensionals.

The message is an old retired one, but stamped in Mossy Meadow.  It is stamped on the smallest Stitched Rectangle Die and attached to the card with Dimensionals.

This is an easy card and can be used for many occasions. It also makes a good male card.

 FUN FOLD FRIDAY

WELCOME OCTOBER!

Today's post is a cute little treat box. Each month I make a treat for the wonderful oncology nurses and my doctor that I see. I make a few extra for whomever is around.  This was their treat on Thursday.  I make 24 or 25 different treat holders each month.

I will share the directions, but I will be using a green piece of cardstock because I had one the right size in my scrap box.

Start with a piece of cardstock 4 3/4 x 2 3/8.

Score on the long side at 1 1/8, 2 1/8, 3 1/4, 4 1/4.

Turn your cardstock and score on the short side at 1".

Cut up on your folds and cut out pieces as shown in the picture and put Tombow on the small flap.

Bring the edges together and attach the glued section to the side of the box.

Fold your bottom pieces in to create the bottom.  Put Tombow on the last flap folded in and hold a minute until it adheres well.  That is one of the things I love about Tombow.  Even though it is sticky, it dries quickly and it also slides easily when wet so you can position things correctly.

Two Hershey Nuggets fit perfectly in the little box.

You can use this box for any occasion and add whatever is appropriate for the occasion.  I used the retired Harvest Hellos Stamp Set with matching punch for the front since it is September and apples are grown abundantly here in my area.
The message is from the September Paper Pumpkin kit. Perfect for this!

 WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY

A little old and a little new.

I thought I would share a card today using the Textures and Frames FREE Sale-a-bration stamp set since SAB ends on Thursday.

I stamped the filled circles two times and the open circle once with Pale Papaya. The open rectangle is stamped with Succulent Sage.

Then I glued some left over pieces from my Paper Pumpkin Hope kit on top of the circles.  The message is from a really old retired set.

The spots are stamped with Crushed Curry.

There are some clever things you can do with this simple stamp set.  Check them out on Pinterest.

Come back on Friday for a fun fold little treat box.

 MAKE IT MONDAY (on Tuesday)

I have been trying to update my turn style card rack to sell some cards. Here is one I came up with using current products.

The card base is Crushed Curry.  The DSP layer is Beauty of  the Earth DSP.

The tree and the bird are from the Beautiful Trees Dies.

The "hello" is stamped on a die from Stitched So Sweetly Dies.

The deer is the Deer Builder Punch on pg 26 of the Mini Catalog.  This can be purchased separately or as a bundle with the Peaceful Deer  Stamp Set.  The deer also lines up with the deer on the FREE
Peaceful Prints DSP in the Sale-a-bration Catalog. The Be Dazzling DSP and the sheep dies are already gone.

Sale-a-bration ends in two days so don't forget to get your order in.  The

 FUN FOLD FRIDAY

I'm not sure what this fold is called, but I just watched a video by Leena Girsa.  This was my first try at one of these cards.

I used the Sweet As a Peach Stamp Set and matching You're A Peach DSP from the Annual Catalog.

This card is 3D, but can be pushed flat for mailing.

There is a blank sheet on the back of the card for your message and note.

The messages I used on the front and on the back are from retired sets.  You can use anything you have that works for you. I am anxious to try a few more with different stamps and paper.  What about you?

Just a reminder that Sale-a-bration ends Sept 30th. Some FREE items are already gone so don't wait to place your order.

Here are the dimensions for the card:

Base - 4 1/4 x 9, scored at 5 1/2, 6 1/2, 7 1/2, 8 1/2

Large DSP piece - on base - 4 3/8 x 4 1/8 (this is just to leave a very small margin around the edge.)      You can cut slightly smaller if you want a larger edge of cardstock showing.

DSP strip - 4 1/8 x 7/8

Cardstock that pops up - 5 1/2 x 3, scored at 4 and 5
DSP for pop up part - 3 3/8 x 2 7/8

I used one of the dies for my white message layer and also stamped a few flowers from the set on the    corners.

I am going to include the link to Leena's video here.  You have to fast forward through a couple of other cards she showed to get to the assembly of this card. thanks to Leena for this fun card.

 WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY

A little old and a little new:

The card vase is Very Vanilla. The DSP is a retired piece.  The sparkle paper is the Be Dazzling 6 x6 FREE SAB paper, sprayed with Old Olive.

To do this put some 90% alcohol in a spritzer and add a few drops of Old Olive reinker.  then lightly spray your Be Dazzling paper.  If you want to use it right away, you can dry it with the heat gun.

To do the leaves, I used Pale Papaya, Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizazz, sponged onto the back of the leaves that were left over from the September Paper Pumpkin kit. then I stamped the veins with Cajun Craze, Old Olive, and Rich Razzleberry.

The sequins are left over from another Paper Pumpkin kit.  The message is from a retired set.

Even though I have way too many retired items, I like that I am able to dig into my supplies and pull out things I can use to make a project.

 FUN FOLD FRIDAY

Sorry I was absent earlier in the week.  Returning from FL and medical issues kept me away.  However, here is a cute and simple new fun fold for you.  I saw this on Pinterest, posted by txstampin' Sharon. Her website is txstampin.com.

I will give you dimensions at the end of the post.

You start by cutting a piece of cardstock at 4 1/4 x 11.  Then score at 5 1/2 and 6 1/2. Notice that the 5 1/2 score will be creased to be a valley fold and the 6 1/2 score will be creased to be a mountain fold.

Turn your card piece at 180 degrees and put Tombow on the 1" scored section.

Fold your card so that the glued section adheres to the larger end.  You will end up with a folded section on the left side of your card.

Decorate as desired.  I used the Elegantly Said Stamp Set.  The more I use this set, the more I like it.  I also love all the sayings in the set, which makes it very versatile.

Dimensions:

Base - 4 1/4 x 11

Layered piece for front (here it is Sea Foam) - 4 x 4 1/4

White - 3 3/4 x 4

Layer - 3 x 3 1/4

White - 2 3/4 x 3

White for inside - 4 x 4 1/4

White scrap for your pop up in the corner.

I popped up the second layer of Sea Foam and White and also popped up the flower.

The gems are retired, but you can use anything you have that works for you!

Have a wondeful Memorial Day weekend and remember all those who sacrificed to give us the freedoms we enjoy.

 FUN FOLD FRIDAY

Today's card shows one of the ways you can make a Z Fold Card.

To begin cut a piece of base cardstock (here it is Night of Navy) at 4 1/4 x 11.

Score at 2 3/4 (mountain fold) and 5 1/2 (valley fold)

Cut three coordinating pieces of DSP (here I used Paper Blooms DSP). One is 2 1/4 x 4, one is 5 1/4 x 4, and the smallest one for the fold out is 2 1/2 x 2 3/4.

Cut your base fold out at 9 1/2 x 3 (here I used Rococo Rose) and score at 3 1/4 and 6.

Cut two pieces of Basic White, one at 3 x 2 3/4 and the other at 3 1/4 x 2 3/4.

Stamp your images onto your white pieces. I used the flower (in Rococo Rose) and the swirl (in Seaside Spray), both from the Elegantly Said Stamp Set. The messge is in Night of Navy also from the same set.

Attach all your DSP and white pieces to your cardstock.

Lay your inside Z fold smaller base into your large base card. Then fold together to see that it is lying flatly. Adhere your two end pieces to your base card, one at a time to make sure it can close properly.  It should now open and fold easily.

Z fold cards are so fun and there are different ways to make them.  Pinterest has lots of ideas. I hope you have fun making some.

Thanks for stopping by.

 WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY

Today's card has a little old and a little new.  I used this card to demonstrate how to stamp and how to use the new Emboss and Cut Machine at a local vendor sale last weekend.

The old on the card is one of the embossing folders in the Greenery set from the last catalog. Also retired is the small strip of  the pink colored foil sheet.

The new on this card is the Paper Blooms DSP, cut at 1 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Basic White Cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and scored in the middle.

Sea Foam cardstock cut with the largest Stitched So Sweetly Die and white cut with a layered Stitched Rectangle Die.

The stamp set I used  for the flower and the message is Elegantly Said.  This set has great messages in it - very versatile and I love the other stamps too.

The DSP goes with the Bloom Stamp Set and the Pierced Blooms Dies.  I did not get the stamps because I thought I had enough flowers.  However, I did get the dies because they are so cute, and I will share a post tomorrow using a couple of the dies.

 MAKE IT MONDAY

Today's card is one that we made at our virtual Proverbial Stampers Meeting on Sat. It was called the Mystery Card.  We were given dimensions and items to use. Everyone could make their own card and then we shared.  Here is what I made - both the inside and outside.

Here were the directions or supplies to use:

White/Vanilla or cardstock: 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 and (2)- 3 3/4 X 2 1/4 and
3 X4 (inside of the card)
DSP: coordinating pieces of the same design
5 1/4 X 4 (inside of the card) & (2)- 3 1/2 X 2
label punch or die
Stamp Set
12 inches of twine or ribbon (I actually used about 13" so I would have room to tie and cut off the ends).

I used Basic White and Beauty of the Earth DSP. The punch is Elegant Tag. I punched just the top and the bottom in the new In Color Evening Evergreen and layered it behind the one I punched in white.
I used Old Olive Pretty Peacock Ribbon (carried over).
I used the leaves from the Very Versailles Stamp Set and the message from the elegantly Said Stamp Set.
I made a slit in the fold of the card so I could feed the ribbon through.
I used Old Olive and Evening Evergreen inks.

Why don't you try this and see what you can come up with using the  supplies suggested.  It is fun and there are so many possibilities.

 FUN FOLD FRIDAY

Here is an easy card fold, using a piece of DSP.

Here are directions, folowed by some pics:

Cut a piece of cardstock measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.

Score your piece in the middle at 4 1/4.

Cut a piece off one side of the card, leaving 3/4" on the other side of the fold.

Cut a piece of DSP at 5 1/2 x a "smidgen" less than 4 1/4.

Put glue on the inside of the 3/4" flap and slide and attach your DSP piece under the flap.

Tie a piece of ribbon around your card to cover where the cardstock and DSP meet.

Decorate as desired.

For this card I also used the Sweet Strawberry Stamp Set, Berry Delightful DSP (no longer available), Strawberry Bundle Punch, white ribbon, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Dimensionals, Wink of Stella for the strawberries.

Cardstock used was Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade, Basic White.

 WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY

On Wednesdays I will share something old or new or a combination of both.  We all know we have retired products.

Here is a card that I really love:

The stamp set on this card, Free As A Bird, is current.  I LOVE this set. I'm so glad it is still here.

The base of the card is Basic White.  Then a piece of Bird Ballad DSP  (retired) is the layer cut at 5 1/4 x 4.

I cut out two of the Stitched Nested Label Dies together with the Big Shot. (retired). That way I had the smaller one to stamp on and the larger one to frame the smaller one, popped up with Dimensionals.

The smaller one is stamped with the small flower from the set using Calypso Coral.
The birds are stamped with Momento and colored with our Blends. I also stamped two of the larger flowers from the set and set them onto the branch.

The birds and the flowers are all fussy cut and popped up with Dimensionals.

The message is stamped onto Basic White and die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies (current).

The bow is made from Calyso coral Ombre Ribbon (retired) and put on with a Glue Dot.

Come back Friday to see a card made with an easy peasy card fold.

 MAKE IT MONDAY

Sorry, I am a little late.  I had two doctor's apoointments and then started to put craft show things away and almost forfot to post.  I have to get back in the groove.

Today I am highlighting the Pansy Petal Suite, found on page 27 & 28 of the new catalog.

Here is the card I made:

I used Basic White cardstock as my base.
Then I cut a piece of Highland Heather at 5 1/4 x 4 for the layer.
I then punched out pieces using the Tailored Tag punch from the Pansy Petals DSP.  I just played around with the positioning until I got them where I wanted.  Glue them in place.
Cover the whole thing with Clear Wink of Stella.
Stamp the small pansy from the set and place a pearl in the center.
I used a retired set for my message, but you can use anything you have that fits on your Tailored Tag Punch.
Punch out the message and adhere both the message and the pansy with Dimensionals.

I am anxious to try more cards with this beautiful set.  There are so many samples on Pinterest.

See you on Wed, where anything goes.

FUN FOLD FRIDAY

Today's project is so cute.  I saw the pattern somewhere, but, I apoligize, I can't remember the girl's name. I will show it to you first and then give you pics and directions.  I made 20 of these for my oncology nurses and doctor. I try to take a treat in each month.  Here is the final product:

The message seems a little hard to read, but I thought it was perfect.  It says "If you could see my face, you would see the smile that you put on it."  The message is from a retired set called Thankful Thoughts.  It is so appropriate for this project.

You start by making a diaper fold treat holder out of  two pieces of 6 x 6  DSP.  If you don't know how to do that here goes:  Fold your piece in half to make a triangle.

Bring the right corner up to the left side so that your folded piece is straight across.  Crease with your bone folder.  Then bring the left corner up to the right side, aligning your edge with the edge of your first folded corner.  Crease again with your bone folder.

Put a little adhesive or Tombow Glue on the top pointed piece and fold down over your first two folded pieces.  You should still have one pointed piece left in the back.

Now do the same with a second piece of 6 x 6 DSP.
Put a little adhesive on one of the points that will be the bottom piece.  Now slide the two together.

Cut two pieces of string 5 1/4" long.  Lift the corners up slightly and put a dab of Tombow inside.  Slide your two end pieces into the flaps where the glue is and press to hold for just a short time. Put your treat inside.  For some I used two mini Kit Kats and for some I used one regular sized Kit Kat.

All the nurses loved them.  They are all so great, and, especially during these trying times.
I hope you will give this a try and pass some out to some special people you know.

Thanks for visiting.

 WELCOME BACK!

Thursday, May 7, 2021

I have been away for quite a while and I apologize for that.  I was diagnosed with lung cancer in Jan of 2019 and it has been a long road.  However, with God's help and lots of prayer warriors surrounding me, I am on the mend and ready to get back into some consistent blogging.

My plan is to blog on Monday, Wed, and Friday.  If I find this to be too much, I will let you know.

On Make it Monday I will concentrate on new and current catalog products and show you ways that you can use them.  It's always inspirational to see how Stampin' Up products are used and you know it makes you want to have them all.

What's Up Wednesday will be a little of everything.  If I have been working on a project that uses retired products, this is the place where I will showcase them.  We all know we keep lots of our favorites and still need some inspiration on how to use them.

Fun Fold Friday will showcase a card or project with a fun fold.  I always love finding new card folds and  3D projects.

I hope that you will come back and visit while I get things started again.  Join me tomorrow for a fun fold mask candy holder.  Masks are still everywhere, but now you can make one that you don't have to wear.  Hope to see you soon.
