I wanted to try a different technique with DistINKtive stamps and also use a piece of Petal Promenade DSP.    Here is my take and then I will explain.

I wanted to use one of the frames found on a piece of the Petal Promenade DSP so I decided to combine it with the Healing Hugs stamp set.  Here is what a sheet of the DSP looks like.  You can use this for a scrapbook page or cut it apart and use it for cards or other projects.

The other sheets in the pack (except for one more like this) are regular all-over patterns.

I also wanted to try a technique using the flower from the DistINKtive Healing Hugs set so that you can get more than one color on the stamp.  The DistINKtive stamps are exclusive to Stampin' Up.  They give you a dimensional effect without doing the two step method.  Watch this video to see how to incorporate more than one color on a DistINKtive stamp.

Smokey Slate, Blushing Bride, Whisper White card stock; Petal Burst embossing folder; Grapefruit Grove, Blushing Bride & Highland Heather inks for the three tone flower and Mossy Meadow ink for the leaves.

FUN FRIDAY

Instead of Fun Fold Friday, it is Fun Frame Friday.  I had plenty of time to work on this since our home was in the area that got bombarded with rain over the last week.  Thankfully I live high enough that I was not flooded, but there are many in our area that need our prayers.  I saw a frame like this on Pinterest, created by Gloria Plunket.  I took her idea and ran with it.  Here is my version, what I did, and how I created it.

The "O" is attached with Velcro and I made one for each month.  This one is September.  The rest are in order from January through December.

I used some retired and current products to create the monthly circles.

I started with a piece of Vanilla Cardstock measuring 6 x 8.  I thought that picture frames came in that size, but found out that is not the case.  Therefore mine is in an 8 x 8 frame.

I first scored my vanilla piece at 3/4" both horizontally and vertically using my Simply Scored.  When scoring on the 6" side, you can begin at the edge and score every 3/4".  It will come out evenly.  When scoring the 8" side, start at 4" in the middle and score 3/4" to the left and the right so that you end up with 1/4" on each side.

I wanted a little background so this was perfect.  It also gave me a way to keep my letters lined up straight for my project.

Then I took a piece of black c.s also at 6 x 8 and cut out a piece measuring 4 1/2 x 7 1/2 to make my hole.

I added Washi Tape to the top and bottom black edge, centered and glued my letters on, leaving a space for the "O" pictures.  I added a Velcro Dot where the "O" would be.

I adhered this frame onto an 8 x 8 sheet of Champagne Foil with Fast Fuse, using a little extra behind the spot where the Velcro is, since that will be tugged at to remove the "O" pieces.

I am really excited about how this turned out.  I LOVE it!  I think I will make a couple more as gifts or to sell at a Christmas craft show.  I hope it will go a little more quickly since I now have the idea, measurements and thoughts about what to do for each month.

On Monday I shared a card using the inside pieces of one of the stained glass thinlits.  Today I am sharing the card I made using the actual piece that you get when you cut this thinlit out.

I just "played around" to make this card.  I wanted to use the piece that I had cut out to get the fence pieces from Monday and I wanted to use one of the other thinlits in the bundle.  I am happy with how this turned out.

Supplies used:

Petal Pink, Berry Burst, Whisper White card stock; Wood Grain DSP (for the two thinlit pieces); Clear Faceted Gems; 1/2" Circle Punch; Seaside Emb Folder; Circle Framelits; Blender Pens.

I saw a little trick on Pinterest showing how to glue these VERY thin thinlit pieces.  If you remember you can use the Adhesvie Sheets when cutting your thinlit.  If you forget, like me, put a little Tombow on your Acrylic Mat and then dip your sponge into it and dab your sponge onto the back of the thinlit piece.  Do this also on top of your Acrylic Mat so that it doesn't stick to anything.  I LOVE the Acrylic Mat!  

It was pretty sticky with glue when I was done so I just put it in some warm sudsy water and cleaned it off.  Worked great and I am ready to use it again.

I saw a post by Jo Weedon on Pinterest using the Stained Glass Window Thinlit as a fence and had to try it myself.  We were invited to a backyard get-together Sunday evening which was very nice.  I thought I would send out friends a thank you note.  Here is my card.

To make the fence you use the long thinlit in the Stained Glass set.

When you cut it out, here is what you get - the long shape and then all the little pieces that fall out.  I cut the point off of one end of all the little pieces and then glue dotted them to a thin strip of paper to make the fence.  I used Woodgrains DSP to make the fence.

Other supplies:

Rooted in Nature stamp set and matching Thinlits; Itty Bitty Greetings;  Garden Green card stock and ink; Pool Party, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White card stock; retired Tree Builder Punch for the clouds; Mini Dimensionals to pop up the fence.

I hand cut three pieces of crumb cake card stock to make the ground and then brushed the ends with a little crumb cake ink from the inkpad.

FUN FOLD FRIDAY

Today I am going to share a double pleated fold card with you.  Here is the card and then I will show you a few tips/directions.

I did use retired DSP, but the rest is current.

First you need a sheet of DSP measuring 5 3/8 x 10.

With the long side at the top of your Simply Scored score at 1 - 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 - 3 - 4 - 4 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 - 6 - 7 - 7 1/2 - 8 1/2 - 9.

Then you need to make some tick marks.  I drew my lines instead so that you could see what it looks like.  If you only make tick marks, you can just score using your paper cutter by connecting the tick marks.

Your tick marks should be at 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 at the top and bottom of the long sides.

Tick marks for the short side should be at 2 3/16 and 3 3/16.

Then score so that you are following the pattern I have shown on the DSP.

Cut off the edges you created.  Then begin to accordion fold from each side, with your first fold on the outside edges being a mountain fold.

I actually put a little adhesive (Fast Fuse) on the inside of the folds since this paper is pretty thick, but that might not be necessary with a more light weight DSP.

Put adhesive on the back of your pleated fold piece and attach it to the base piece, centering your DSP fold piece.

After attaching, turn your card stock over and trim off the edges that show from each side so it will look like the picture above.

Then decorate as you like.  On my card I used the Accented Blooms stamp set and the Ovals Framelits. I also used Rich Razzleberry and Calypso Coral card stock.

I used the inside piece of the stamp set that looks like the tag (you can throw this away when mounting your stamps, but I chose to keep it in case I wanted to use it for something).  I stamped this with Rich Razzleberry, but stamped off twice so that it would be light.  Then I punched it out with the Taylored Tag Punch.

Both the ovals and the tag are popped up with Dimensionals.

Christmas in July is the theme of today's post.  This card was one that we made at the June Stamp Fest and was created by Cindy Fodor.

One of the first things I saw in the new catalog that I knew I had to have was the pack of Graceful Glass Vellum.  I finally took some time to make a card with it today when I heard of the passing of one of my husband's cousins.

I used one of the panels and cut it down to 1 1/2 x 5 1/2.  I then colored it with Stampin Blends. I mounted that onto Lemon Lime Twist card stock and attached the two with the Fine Tip Glue Pen along the sides.

To make the butterfly I cut the framelit out of another piece of the vellum that had a shape design.  This I colored also with Blends and mounted it on Whisper White card stock.

The message is stamped with Momento and punched out and mounted on a Pretty Label punch out.

If I use one of these panels again, I think I will cut it a little shorter so that when I add my black
"frames" they will meet in the middle.  I cut these out by placing the die on black card stock and then placed that onto an Adhesive Sheet.  That was then cut with the Big Shot.  All you do is peel the paper away and you have automatic adhesive on your card stock.  These pieces have such thin parts that I thought this would be the best way to go instead of trying to glue it on with the Fine Tip Glue Pen.
