FUN FOLD FRIDAY

I am in a special fold swap coming up soon at On Stage in Florida.  I signed up to do an interlocking gate fold.  Here is the card I came up with.

Here is the card to show how it opens from the interlocking position.

The inside
Card is regular size.  Start with a piece of cardstock 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
Score on the long side at 2 18".  Then bring your other side over to meet the folded in piece.  This will assure that your right and left section meet correctly in the middle.

To cut out the Scalloped Oval Framelit, lay your scalloped piece and the next size regular oval inside one another with the oval framelit centered inside the scalloped framelit.  This was Calypso Coral on this card.  Then cut out with the Big Shot.  You know have your frame.  I used the inside of the oval that was cut out to mount in the inside of the card for a message so that piece was not wasted.

Now cut out the same size oval out of your contrasting paper - here it is Night of Navy.

I used the Seasonal Chums stamp set and matching thinlits for the rest of the card.  Snowman is colored with Stampin' Blends and snowflakes are cut out of Champagne Foil Paper.

To make your card interlocking, put Tombow Adhesive on the back left side of the Calypso Coral scalloped piece and adhere it to the left panel on the front of the card.  I put my Silicone Sheet under this when I was adhering it so that I would not get any squirted out glue on the rest of the card.

To make sure I had my blue oval centered inside the scalloped oval, I closed the card and put Tombow on the space on the right side of the flap where the oval would be adhering.  That way when I laid the oval in the scalloped piece it would be perfectly centered.  That worked like a charm.

I thought this was a cute stamp set to use on this card so that I would have something on the inside of the oval piece when the card was opened.

Other supplies:
Champagne Foil cut at 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 for the panels
White cardstock cut at 1 5/8 x 5 for the white size panels.  I also embossed these with the Softly Falling Emb Folder.
Inside piece is 5 1/4 x 4.
Red Rhinestones for the berry on his hat.

This was fun to make and I hope you will try it out.  The possibilities are endless.  There are many samples on Pinterest.  I only had to make 11 so that was very doable.

Hint:  Make sure you attach your blue oval to the card before you adhere anything to the back of it (like the back of the snowman).  You need to put the back of the snowman on after your piece is glued down.  Trust me - I know!  I had to make more snowmen and adhere it to the snowman I put on too early.
